What StepLocal does
StepLocal records browser workflow steps only after the user explicitly starts a recording. It turns those steps into editable guides containing page titles, URLs, clicked-element descriptions, and screenshots.
Local storage and transmission
Guides, metadata, and screenshots are stored locally in the user's browser using IndexedDB. StepLocal does not operate a server and does not transmit, sell, rent, or share recorded information.
Website access
StepLocal uses website access to observe user-initiated clicks only during an active recording. It does not monitor background browsing and does not collect keystrokes, passwords, payment information, analytics, or advertising identifiers.
Screenshot privacy
Before each automatic screenshot, StepLocal masks text inputs, text areas, and editable fields. Users should still review every screenshot and use the built-in redaction tool before exporting or sharing a guide.
Exports and deletion
Users can export guides to their own device as Markdown, HTML, JSON, or PDF. Users can permanently delete any guide from the StepLocal editor.
Data-use commitments
- StepLocal does not sell or transfer user data to third parties.
- StepLocal does not use data for purposes unrelated to creating the user's guide.
- StepLocal does not use data for advertising, lending, or creditworthiness decisions.
